Google chrome is a new browser released by google.
Their browser is a huge leap forwards for web browsers, speeding up to 400% faster and hardware usage has decreased and security has increased and useability has been increased.
The browser can be downloaded from the internet and is quite small, link here.
What’s amazing about this release is that google has released their browser FREE (OpenSource)
They are showing their source code to anyone who wants to look under the hood.
With the amount of resources they put into building this, you might be asking yourself why would anyone in their right mind want to spend thousands of dollars and man hours on building the latest browser technology and then give it away for free???.
Well google knows what their market is, they provide search advertising and they aren’t in any other space.
So why would they go to all of this effort in the wrong space, well ... if the amount of people using the internet increases then google wins (the more people using the internet then the more potential people who would be searching on google, and then in turn generating more clicks on AdWords and making them more money.)
They were dissatisfied with the current browsers on the market today and were looking for a way to force them to update and get with the times (Security, Speed & Usability) , so they released their own and set the bar.
This will make every other browser rethink what they are doing and follow the same standards and reach a new level of efficiency in turn increasing the amount of people who are using the internet and google wins.
They know that only the "Geeks" will change to this browser, but they are counting on Internet Explorer picking up their game and producing better software.
This strategy follows on from the same as Kelvin Davis has spoke about before with the freeline strategy. It will force the market to catch up on the technology and in turn boost Google’s usage.
So ask yourself, how your business could follow the same strategy in your business....
